Brewing Sustainable Change

Wuna Coffee Ltd (WCL) was founded with a clear vision — to build a thriving and sustainable coffee farming community in the remote Jimi District, Jiwaka Province. In a place where steep mountains and rough terrain have long isolated rural farmers from vital services and opportunities, WCL is charting a new course — one where coffee becomes a hope, a crop and a bridge to development and better livelihoods.

Jimi’s rugged landscape has historically hindered access to roads, bridges, health care, and education. Farmers in many areas walk long distances to sell their coffee or transport it by bush tracks and makeshift carriers. Wuna Coffee Ltd recognized that sustainable change in such a region must go beyond buying coffee — it must empower people, build infrastructure, and create hope for the next generation.

Through its inclusive approach, WCL works directly with smallholder farmers to improve coffee quality, provide training on best farming practices, and ensure that even the most remote communities are part of the value chain. The company’s partnership with government programs, development agencies, and the Coffee Industry Corporation’s PACD project has opened new pathways for investment in Jimi’s rural economy.

As WCL grows, so does its impact. New access roads and bridges have begun to connect farmers to markets; extension and training programs are improving productivity; and profits from coffee sales are helping families invest in children’s education and community health initiatives.

Wuna Coffee Ltd envisions a future where every coffee tree planted contributes not only to premium-grade coffee but also to a stronger, self-reliant Jimi District — where once-forgotten villages become centers of productivity and pride. Through determination, partnership, and vision, WCL is proving that sustainable coffee farming can transform even the most isolated corners of Papua New Guinea into communities of opportunity and shared progress.

Wuna Coffee has transformed our lives and empowered our community!
